Namaste Hair Salons in Denver and Aveda Support Earth Month
“Clean water is pure happiness to children, animals and the planet itself,” says Aveda’s president Dominique Conseil. Everyone at Namaste Pure Design Hair Salons heartily agrees, as we head into Earth Month, April 2015.
That’s why we’re working hard to support Aveda’s goal to raise $6 million for the fight for clean water for people everywhere on the planet. Since 1999, Aveda and its network of salons have raised more than $38 million for Earth Month. More than $32 million has gone toward clean water projects.
Raising Funds for Clean Water
Every year more than 30 countries around the world participate in Earth Month programs, raising funds for clean water. Aveda works with its salons, spas, institutes, stores and supporters each year to collect money for assorted programs.
This year’s motto is When you protect water, you protect what you love: animals, kids our environment—everything. There are numerous teams raising money for water projects. You can check them out and donate if you like at
The White House Goes Green
Earth Month is April each year. It is tied to Earth Day, which happens each April 22. The event began on a very small scale on April 22, 1970, a date that many consider the birth of the modern environmental movement.
It has gotten bigger each year. In fact, this year the White House will be painted earth green for the entire month of April. It will be repainted the traditional white in May.
Support from All Sides
Earth Day from its beginnings has been one event that brings together Republicans and Democrats. The first Earth Day was the idea of Gaylord Nelson, the Democratic Senator from Wisconsin, who teamed up with Congressman Pete McCloskey, a Republican from California.
Their goal was to promote a range of events around the country. Nelson wanted to focus attention on environmental protection after seeing the massive destruction from an oil spill off Santa Barbara coast.
Earth Day is now Earth Month, and Namaste hair salons in Denver are proud to be part of it.
